Emergency Service:
We provide our clients with a comprehensive 24 hour, 365 day emergency service. Our office is normally open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, except bank holidays. Outside these hours the duty veterinary surgeon can be contacted by our dialling answering service on:
01977 668777
When you connect to the service you will be offered several options – you may interrupt the message by pressing the relevant voice box number:
Option 1. Non urgent messages for Ledston Equine Clinic.
This should be used to leave information or messages of a non-urgent nature. The messages will be picked up when the office is next open.
Option 2. Ledston Equine Clinic Emergency Service.
Please use this option if you require urgent/immediate veterinary attention.
Listen carefully to the instructions on the message and please leave clearly: a) Your full name b) Your contact telephone number - speak slowly! c) BRIEF details of your emergency
YOUR PHONE NUMBER IS ESSENTIAL FOR US TO RETURN YOUR CALL!
We may out on a call and not have access to your contact information.
Please ensure you stay close to your phone, that it is switched on and you remain in a good signal area.
The duty Veterinary surgeon will ring you back as soon as possible – and usually within 10 MINUTES. Please bear in mind we may be driving or dealing with another case.
Once the duty Vet is en route please only call again if there is a SIGNIFICANT change in the patient’s condition – further calls will DELAY the arrival of the vet as we will have to stop and retrieve your message from the answering system.
Option 3. Advice from the Duty Veterinary Surgeon, but not for emergency calls.
Please use this option to seek advice from the duty vet or if you are unsure if you require a visit.
The duty vet will return your call as soon as they are free to do so – usually only a short delay unless they are dealing with another emergency.
Option 5. Secondary alerting for Ledston Equine Clinic Emergency Service.
ONLY use this option if you have left a message on option 2 and have not had a reply after 10 minutes.
This is diverted to a second vet who is not on call and acts as a back-up in the unlikely event of a telephone or system failure.
Within office hours you may encounter the above answering system when you call at busy times.
This will occur when the clinic line (01977 668777) is use and gives clients the opportunity to leave an urgent message on the emergency (option 2) or advise from the duty vet (option 3) options, which are immediately passed to one of the vets, rather than listening to an engaged tone when our line is busy.
You can also leave a message on the non-urgent option (option 1) and we will return your call as soon as possible.
If you have any difficulties contacting us or using the system at anytime please let us know so that we can investigate the problem.
