Andy Durham is a Partner at Liphook Equine Hospital which he joined in 1994. Most of his work is hospital-based - medical referrals and diagnostic laboratory services - although he still undertakes some ambulatory work. His postgraduate qualifications comprise the RCVS certificate in Equine Practice, RCVS Diploma in Equine Internal Medicine, Diploma of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine and RCVS & European Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine.

 

Scope of the session and what you will learn

Equine practitioners have a prominent role in prevention of equine influenza. Vaccination is a daily event in practice yet we have little time and/or interest to fully examine the details of what we are actually doing. This presentation will outline the role and responsibilities of equine practitioners in influenza protection and compare and contrast the current threat of equine influenza with the available vaccine products for its prevention.
